Welcome to a new year! I look forward to delivering instruction that meets the needs of your child. We that said, our reading program will be guided by the Orton-Gillingham approach, which is a multi-sensory method that works effectively for most students. The first few weeks will focus on assessment to determine the best reading groups for each child. On Math, we use programs provided by the district and tailor the methods and materials to the needs of each child. This Special Education classroom also has a variety of other programs to address skills our diverse student population may need.

Dear Parents,

This week marks the last five days of the 2014-2015 school year. As such, the last week is filled with a variety of fun-filled events celebrating the achievements of our students. On Monday is the "Fairy Court," a play composed by the fifth grade classes; Tuesday at Belen High School at 7:00 pm is graduation for the class of 2015. Field Day is Wednesday for Gil Sanchez Elementary, and Thursday is the Awards Assembly for the entire school.
The reading classes will continue to press onward: Third Grade will finish the year with the r-controlled vowels of "er", "ir", and "ur" and First Grade will review the consonant blends and all previous learned materials. For all grades, we will review taught math concepts.
